NPower not refunding credit at end of contract

Hi, my first post here. Thought my not receiving a refund from npower was an isolated hiccup. Our final bill was on 24th July so well over the 10 working days they state on their website. Our monthly direct debit amount was high but we had heating issues in our previous house and didn't bother to fight it as we knew we would soon be moving. Now they owe us a refund of over £400. And having moved house we are strapped for cash and really need the money. I thought BT were cheeky with taking a extra months payment after I cancelled but, reading their fine print, they do state that in their terms and conditions and have already refunded us. So even though their customer service lines were horrendous, I can't complain that they haven't followed their own procedures, unlike npower. I have told everyone I work with about how awful npower are and found I'm not the only one who they tried to charge grossly inflated direct debit payments to. I just wish I could warn other people to be wary of them. Hence this post ;-)0

Further to my post, I sent a message through the website at the weekend and have just emailed the complaints team. Unfortunately I can't ring them during working hours. I shouldn't have to be chasing them to refund me though!0

You'll have to wait. I'm sure it will be sorted soon.

I finally had a reply! That they will refund me in 3-5 working days. I'm not really happy with them holding onto the money for this extended period and then replying with no apology or explanation but I guess there's no recourse?!0

Scottish Power had hold of our money for about 6 months after (until I noticed).
The minute it was raised with them, a cheque was sent out.
