Yep! It came at the end of November and has done the rounds, getting progressively worse as it travelled around the family. DH & I spent the first weekend of December in bed, but recovered enough to cope with visitors the following weekend.
After they left the kids got it. Youngest had over a week off school, very poorly and almost hospitalised (dangerous fever.) She now just has the cold with nasty chesty cough.
Can't help much except to say I found lemsip wonderful first and last thing, along with paracetamol & codeine mix for my fever. And try to keep fluid levels up. Vitamin C?0 -

oops, careful LE. We aren`t allowed to recommend medications, probably best to delete it
My corner has turned, thank goodness, just woke up once in the night and had to come down and use the neti pot with excellent results. I have taken 2 minor meds in the last 24 hours and am pleased to report that 10 15 pm was the last one, I didn`t need the 4.15 am one.
Universal remedy is on the hob now, a massive pan of chicken soup, made with 3 chicken thighs, garlic, ginger, carrot, celery, onion, parsley, sweet potato and some goji berries. This will work wonders at lunchtime and I`ll keep the rest in the fridge or freezer in case anyone else starts to feel poorly. Magic stuff
I got real flu only 6 weeks ago and it took a month to clear with lots of coughing, this one is just a (horrible) cold straight from sniffley grandchildren
Drinks and mucus, work brilliantly but as hot and clear as possible eg I had how water this morning, herb tea at 2 am etc0 -
I have come down with a festive dose of pleurisy so I'm rattling with steroids, antibiotics and painkillers, so I feel your pain...literally!0

I'd like to join in. SIL had a baby last month so we went to visit last weekend, their other son clearly had a cold and my brother I've found out had just got rid of one. I've never felt so ill. Just and to cancel the MIL staying Christmas Eve night, it would be pointless, I'd just keep her awake all night coughing and sneezing. Hubby was unexpectedly sent to America on work and the two things combined mean we literally have no decorations up at all yet, no tree, nothing. In bed shivering now... Maybe later.... Get well soon everyone.
Btw anyone else taken benylin and found they felt really quite sick after?0 -
I came down with the dreaded norovirus early hours of Friday morning which really peeved me off as I work in a school so missed the last day with the students to be able to give them my xmas pressie. I work in a special needs school and have 4 pupils in my class.
Thankfully for some reason I decided to put the presents under the tree for them Thursday when I finished work, so hopefully they were all excited to see some presents under the tree in the classroom on Friday.
This weekend has been non existent, whilst I have eaten, its been very bland food as not been hungry at all and spent a lot of it on the sofa sleeping on/off.
Fingers crossed I feel myself on xmas day.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Hello Kittie and everyone else who is suffering.
I feel a little better today, managed to get the food shopping done. I've had a nap this afternoon as I felt exhausted after shopping. Just taking it easy - lots of fluids (tea) and breathing in steam (bowl, hot water and a towel)
Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

Thought I was starting with something yesterday, fell asleep for 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon and was in bed by 6.45pm and slept till 8am this morning but feel loads better today, just a bit shaky.
Commiserations to all those with colds and of course best wishes to those suffering with a lot more.0 -
Hi Guys,
I have succumbed to the dreaded cold!!! Started Friday, but shows no signs of going! Have taken cold tablets to get me through work today, and then fully intend curing it with a large amount of wine / brandy! If nothing else it will get me in the Spirit!
Hope you all feel better soon!0 -
Argh it really does take the shine off doesn't it, especially when you are the one doing most of the cooking/preperations
HOpe you all feel better magically today xThe opposite of what you know...is also true0
