remote cottage - peaks area

hi
have spent a fair while searching for a holiday cottage so thought i might ask here too.
looking for a cottage for a weeks stay, me, partner and dog.
we live in a city so we are really keen to be v.rural and ideally in a detached cottage away from anyone. think 'middle of nowhere' !
looking to be relatively near manchester, so thinking either peak district or snowdonia areas, but open to suggestions.
any tips appreciated!

I live in the Peaks -there are lots of remote cottages...
- you need to thnk about the practicalities - how remote do you want to be ?
do you want to be in a hillside village with a pub? or out on the moors with no neighbours, or pubs, or shops ?
