Online chat is the way ahead with BT; I love it.

You can watch tv, tidy up, or brew up whilst waiting for them to type, and it saves me getting irate and yelling at the poor soul who is trying to sort out my BT issues.

You can also screencapture the conversation and refer to it in future - if they don't get things right the first time.

    Update and a good result!

Tried the option as suggested in post number 4. Phone on hands free while I was waiting for BT to go through lots of options. AT one stage I even resisted "press 9 to speak to an operator"

Eventually a nice Indian lady replied and my query was sorted straight away.

The very last time I ever had the misfortune to phone Bt I did indeed speak to a human,at least I think he was, more like a barking dog.
The most arrogant !!!!!! I've ever had to deal with from any company in any country.Just to try and resolve an account query upon leaving.
Then he decided to keep ringing back but not speaking.
Will NEVER darken their doorstep again.

Press 0 a few times and you'll always get put through to a real person. Much much easier.

I will second the post that recommends using the Online Chat function - although if your internet is out that's out of the question.

Their menu tree is ridiculous - I had ordered BT Broadband - paid the deposit but then decided to cancel and go elsewhere (for 1/2 the price too - hooray!) and they kept sending me bills with one or two pound charges on. I tried calling but could never get through to anyone.

So I used the online chat and got to sort it out in seconds and I haven't heard from them since.

As others have said for a company specialising in communications they aren't to keen to let you talk to anyone after you're signed up and they are billing you each month.

Will avoid like the plague forever and ever....:D
