The Ombudsman Service

Does anyone have experience of using the Ombudsman. I was wondering what happens when the parties reach an agreement but the Service Provider fails to implement it. My case is ongoing and no doubt I will eventually find out but in the meantime it is very worrying.

Without giving names I am with the energy provider who has the biggest number of complaints in the UK which doesn't instil much confidence.

Very sorry if my post was unclear. My complaint has already been resolved by the Obmudsman and an agreement reached. The other party has not complied with any of the Ombudsmans decision and I want to know what happens next. Information about this does not appear on the Ombudsmans web site. I am worried about it and wanted a little advice about this, not my original complaint.

The complaint league tables on the net clearly show who my provider is and all I can say is stay well clear of them.
  • There are a couple of threads here about the Ombudsman service and our experience if it - eg see the one started by Backfoot.

There really is no need to be so coy about naming your provider you know!

    Tell the ombudsman.

The supplier is obliged to fullfill the resolution offered by the ombudsman (if you agree to such a resolution).
You have the option as to whether or not you wish to accept the ombudsman's proposed resolution.

Presumably, that's the one with the largest number of customers ;)

Thanks snowcat53. I checked the thread by backfoot and I did not realise that you could still switch suppliers with your account in dispute. The ombudsman has ruled that the account is in dispute because of incompetence by EDF - I am not short of the money to pay it.

I do not believe that it is caused by incompetence but by blatant dishonesty although I cant work out what incentive EDF gives to their employees to be dishonest?

I am reliably informed they pay them a quid for each porky they tell.

My mate tells me he earns at least £1000 a month extra by taking advantage of this bonus :)

If only MSE offered a similar scheme eh? This time next year we could all be millionaires :D
