Would you have a tracking device fitted to cut your car insurance? Has anyone done this and did it make much difference?

I see this purely as a way of increasing charges....

Lets be honest i see most people driving more then whatever the speed limit is..... a large % of us do it... inc coppers and mp's.

Now the insurer will see your speed, and could then deem you to be an even higher risk of a car accident. Could the police seize your car then to use the info from the box against you after an accident

    etc.......
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

It's a good idea and also allows the Insurers to bypass the gender equality restrictions and therefore take on good female drivers

That's what prompted me to ask to be honest. Actually I'd never thought of it being used as evidence against you, in a conviction! Though I suppose conversely it could also be used in your favour.
The problem is, I guess that many good (imo) drivers inadvertently creep over the speed limit on occasion. Could be a double edged sword.

Can these trackers also locate your car if it is stolen?

Yes they can locate the car if stolen unless they fix that. Its easy and cheap to block trackers.

They know where you are 24/7. They know what where your going, Where you have been. What speed your doing. How hard you brake and corner.

They known exactly when you have reached your quoted mileage.

Couple of years back one of these companies that fit a box came out cheapest for me. But i didnt choose that option.

They tend to be rather inflexible and costly to make changes.

It would be nice if ultimately it made people start to drive properly.

The answer to which you have no idea is also yes :)
(if you are a high risk and so suffer from high premiums ... and don't then drive like a madman)

I did a few quotes for my daughter (new driver) and could get cheaper without a box.

Add in that some co's who use these boxes. Check them every so often and if not upto scratch will revoke your ins.....

    Leading to guess what.......

You have to declare a revokes ins policy and suffer increased costs :rotfl:

    Wakey wakey. Your dreaming :)

Bought an in car DVR and only clipped it to the screen this morning. To have a play. Already got some pillock on the motorway.
I was in the NS lane for the exit and they pulled in slamming the brakes on leaving less than 3 feet between us.

It was a white BMW and the Reg plate had the letters WNKKR in it...

    Says it all really.
