direct debits after the new year

Hope Ive out this in the right place!

JUst wondering if anyone knows when any direct debits for the 1st of the month would come out in the new year? will they still come out on the 1st? Is this a daft question?!

I am taking no chances, I will have enough cash in my account by Monday 31st December to cover everything that is due up to and including the 4th of January.

As banks are closed on New Year's Day any Direct Debits/bank transactions for 1st January will be made the following day i.e. 2nd January.

The first bank working day in Scotland is the 3rd so in all probability your standing orders/direct debts will come out on this day. I think its the 2nd in the rest of the uk? Just make sure the money is in on the 31st. It'll save the guessing game.

direct debits will come out on the first working day on or after they due. However, they may well show on your potential balance prior to that (just as Saturday/Sunday will often show Monday payments). You should make sure your money is the account at least by the 31st Dec.
