Royal Mail working Sunday?

Expecting people to work on Sunday to enhance your Christmas is a bit rum.
I wasn't expecting people to work on Sunday at all, nowhere did I imply that. I was merely asking a question about what they were doing. I really don't understand people who say things like that. Not an answer to your question ste - but Christmas is the same date every year.
I suggest you re-read that part! You've made your own point.
To the other people who have answered trying to help/clarify, thankyou very much and Merry Christmas!0 -
I had a parcel delivered by Royal Mail last Sunday. We're in Manchester.0

It was this bit - "I think it's in the realm of possibility they could have had one! e.g. Saturday + Sunday - because of Christmas both become "normal working days" - that made me think you were expecting workers to be forced to work on a Sunday.
Silly me eh?0 -

You missed out my point - "I'm obviously not saying this is necessarily the case but something like this is at least theoretically possible".
I guess it wasn't obvious enough for some people...0 -
ok - you weren't suggesting it, you were just hoping the people running Royal Mail would, as you are awaiting last minute pressies.
A national policy no less.0 -

Ok you are right, I was hoping Royal Mail would read this and then tell all staff to work on Sunday just for my benefit ! Who could possibly think that! (btw - not presents, computer products for me), unbelieveable!
I didn't realise asking a question could be taken in such the wrong way, have tried to make it clear twice now.0 -
Bit of a baptism of fire for ste1234 to have both Custardy AND macfly responding to this thread in their inimitable styles!0

well what would the national policy be?
if an office is clear or can cover whats left in working hours, why would they pay extra to deliver on a Sunday?
what if no staff are available for the Sunday etc etc
offices vary in mail volumes and the type of area they deliver to. so its not as clear cut as simply saying everyone will work Sunday
oh and Post offices don't deliver anything
The original op was a general question your answers are obnoxious0
