Automatic renewal of house insurance by Switcover

Hi

Last year I took out house insurance with Swiftcover, paying in full by debit card. Since that time I have changed email address and bank. I renewed my house insurance via a comparison site, not with Swiftcover.

I have now received debt collection notices from Swiftcover, advising me that they require costs of £35 for being unable to 'collect renewal premium' plus further costs to incurred.

Is this charge enforceable as I did not accept nor decline their invitation to renew the insurance just simply let it expire.

You failed to cancel the renewal. They would have sent you details before the old policy expired.

Contact then with the new policy details and see if they will drop the charges.

But grovel a bit, Because its your fault and yes they can enforce it.

You will have agreed to the auto renewal when you took the first policy out, you signed it without reading the terms and conditions.

They may waive it if you have other insurance and can prove it.
