Please help laptop froze

hi i have a new hp laptop had it for 6 weeks and the screen has gone blank we still have the cursor and the mouse moves but cannot get anything else up. tried to turn it of but that will not work any ideas as boys need it for college and school work

if ctrl alt del doesn't work, your only option is to hold down the power button until it switches off, and hope it boots up afterwards.
Backup with disk imaging software (eg macrium reflect free) and create windows disks if you don't have them!!

feel really daft now held the button down went of never knew you could do that always use ctrl alt del to turn of turned it back on and it worked so thank you so much boys have styopped panicking as this one is to old for them to use thanks again :j:j
will back up and crate disc0 -
the hold down for 6 seconds only to be used in emergencies, as an improper shutdown could corrupt the disk
instructions for backing up, and speeding up the old one if you wish

Shut it down properly or your asking for trouble in the future.
Go to the 'shut down' button and just click.
Only use the other methods in an emergencymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
