How much to park at hotel????

Well we went to a show at Birmingham and the travel company booked us into the Novotel at the airport. When we arrived it was pouring and we followed the signs to the hotel, we had to take a ticket to get to the hotel door and unload, I was them told I would have to leave the car in one of the nearby airport car parks, leaving the drop off point, another barrier, £7 to get out. Parked in nearby car park.
Back at hotel complained, politely about the £7 and was told I should have got the ticket authorised by the hotel to leave the area without charge! AAARRRGGGHHH Signs in drop off area but who reads them in pouring rain, no signs in hotel and receptionist did not tell us.
Worse to come, when I collected the car next morning charged £22, mentioned this when picking up the bags and getting the £7 ticket authorised and was told I should have been given a code for the hotel guests discount! AAARRRGGGHHH There are no signs about this so how should I know? Hotel said the travel company should have told me.
Am writing to the travel company, Newmarket, and the hotel, Novotel as I feel nearly £30 for a nights parking at a hotel is a rip off.
Sorry for going on but this is a rant board!

People that don't pay the £7? Signs are there for a reason - if you choose not to read them, you only have yourself to blame.0 -
I always try to check on the hotel website before i leave where is best/cheapest to park and have always found information to tell me if you can get parking tickets authorised at the hotel cheaper.0
