Torn up receipt

On Wednesday I bought a mini iPad (as a present) in PC World, today I found the receipt in the rubbish bin torn in half and covered in undetermined gunge.

Does anyone know if PC World can give me a duplicate receipt please?

The items and credit card information is still clear but I don't really want to keep this melted fat covered receipt.

Thanks

Yes, if you go in, they can print off another copy if you give them your name and postcode. It's worth bringing along some ID just to prove it's you.

    Yes, no problem.

You don't really need a receipt for apple products. Everything is linked to the serial number and apple will know exactly when you bought that iPad. Apples customer service is very good so should sort out any problems you have

Yes, but they can&do require proof of purchase to validate a repair or support if the date is close to your expiry day.

Point is, it's always better to have a receipt or PoP, especially that PcWorld/Currys store your details (Name, Address) and is dead easy to get a copy from any store.

Yes although I agree normally with most products you're always best of going direct to the apple store for problems and bypassing where you purchased from.

Not traditional consumer rights but they provide a very good service!

Many thanks for all the reassurance.

Given that this is the last Saturday before Christmas and my chances of getting close to PC World in either of the two nearest locations (Silverlink or Kingston Park) are remote I will leave it until late next week.

    Once again, thanks!
  • You don't actually need a receipt when returning a faulty item to the retailer. Credit card statement should suffice.

Might be worth sponging the gak off so when you go to the counter saying 'look what I did can I have a duplicate?' you've something to reassure them you're not some scamster who's just stolen an iPad and wants backup paperwork to increase the ebay value...

    :rotfl:

No, it's OK I have kept the original even though it's gungy and ripped and all the relevant important info is still mostly legible.
