Re Bank Charges HELP!!!!!!!

I am a bit miffed, both myself and my son have claimed for all of our bank charges, we started this in January, the 1st letter we sent was acknowledged by a standard bank letter which said you are not getting your money back, we then sent the 2nd template letter and guess what we never heard anything back, I have subsequently put a claim into the financial ombudsman about 2 weeks ago ish, this saturday 21st April my son received a letter from the bank stating that they would refund his £480 within 10 days, now the letter was dated 11th April, does that mean 10 days from date of the letter or 10 in general as and when they choose, if after say 10 days from the saturday he received the letter what do we need to do if the money has not been reimbursed, for my claim I have had nothing thru yet even tho I did do both of them together postage etc my claim is for £3840 does this mean tthat mine will take a lot longer any advise would be much appreciated

With regard to your son. If the letter stated 10 days it is from the date of the letter not his receipt. It could mean 10 working days in which case the money is due into his account any day now. he should ring the bank or go into the local branch and find out exactly when this money is to be paid. Any further questions regarding this the bank can answer.

If both claims were sent at the same time I should think it wont take an awful lot longer to receive the results for yourself. You can always ring the Financial Ombudsmans office to check on the progress of your own claim. Good luck :)
  • Thanks very much for that, I will keep checking his account.
