I currently have a adsl modem with a usb connection
I don't think I've got one, as I can't see the symbol anywhere on the back of my PC, it's about 3 years old
I have just signed up for Orange Livebox and the the booklet it says I need an Ethernet Port, Im not sure if there is one on my PC, what does it look like and where is it usually? Many Thanks in advance, I don't want the Livebox to turn up and I can't use it

Sorry for the number of pictures, but I think they all give a little extra. An ethernet cable/port is also known as a RJ-45 cable/port0

If you don't have ethernet and you have a desktop machine, you can pick up a PCI ethernet card pretty cheap (maybe 5 or 10 quid now?), they're not hard to install either. Alternatively if you've got a laptop you'll be able to get a USB or PCMCIA Ethernet adapter. Or you could wifi instead.0

Aah many thanks I am thick, it's the slot where the old dial up cable plugs into0

Alternatively, it could have a USB socket on the back.0

old dial up plugs into R11 socket which is slightly smaller than an ethernet [ networking cable] RJ45
Orange Livebox do insist on you having this and refer to it in their installation book as a adapter slot/card.
you can connect the livebox to this or usb but if you have to go through orange support and do a recovery they will want you to use the RJ45 cable.[ supplied with livebox]
if you dont already have this onboard like a previous poster has said you will have to add a PCI networking adapter card http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/1193440 -
I have had a livebox for a while now and it came with a USB wireless dongle. You should not need to connect via an ethernet port - just connect wirelessly.0

I read somewhere that they don't supply the wireless USB dongle any more, and for setting up the Livebox they stipulate the need for a wired connection.0
