or is it cheaper to run cause they dont work :o

have 4 bedroom house, gas in winter cost about £40
a week.
the rooms stay warm cause of the pipes under the floorboards. thanx.

    Have they ever been bled?
Could be something as simple as air in the system, or a blockage somewhere. Has the system ever been flushed?
Probably something simple a local plumber could figure out in no time.

Pin under TRV stuck down. Seems to happend to me every year. Remove TRV and agitate the pin until the pin rises. Wait a few minutes see if radiator is hot then replace TRV head.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Why wait four years to do anything about it? Bleeding a rad takes a few seconds.
If you don't need to heat 4 bedrooms, switch off the rads as required.

thanx tried to bleed them when the problem started completly jammed,
got different peeps to try and do them.
one did move but the base were the white turny thing is, wont move either.
none of the white turny things move.
have not bothered cause the rooms are warm,
thing is reading another thread about weather to leave heating on all day gave me a lighbulb moment :) always get there in the end.
just wondering if its cheaper to run the house as heating is not going in there or cause of the fault its costing more.

Cheapest thing to do is not have the heating on at all. But assuming you do need some warmth, it'll be far more effective (and cost efficient) to get the radiators working properly. A reasonable plumber will be able to advise if the bleed valve can be turned or, at worse, you will need a new radiator(s). They're not expensive, but it could cost more to get them fitted and the system drained/refilled.

So the valves or TRV's (not white turny things) are seized-a plumber will unseize or replace them. And fix the bleed valves too.

We don't know whether they are TRV's or ordinary radiator valves. TRV's have numbers on them.
