Help needed with student funding please

Hi my son is 20 and in a full time course at college. All child tax credits have stopped along with child benefit. He has no money coming in at all and no savings. He lives with us (parents) we are on esa and get £120 a week.I am being told everywhere he is not eligible for income support, jobseekers etc.I have phoned the college and was told they have no funding for him either. He can claim back for his equipment he has purchased but that is it.Does anybody have any idea of what he could claim as we just cannot afford to support him anymore. He really loves his course and it would be such a shame for him to have to quit.I think its wrong for the government to penalise young people who are trying to do something with their lives.Any help appreciated.

What level is the course he is doing at College. Is it Further Education or Higher Education. What you are entitled to is different depending on the level.

Students are not entitled to any form of benefits unless they have children or dependants etc...

ESA was a short lived thing, and unfortunately will probably never be bought back...

He could get a part time job - which may be hard to do, but unfortunately there is no 'magic' pot of money that he is entitled to.

At least he is getting his fees, and materials paid for.

    I think you meant EMA.

I agree with you, a part time job is the only way he's going to be able to support himself at FE level and at the age of 20.
