Hi
I'm just wanting a bit of advice. I've recently lost my job; and i'm only entitled to contributions based jsa as i live with my partner however i've had a letter saying i'm not entitled to this as i haven't paid enough NI contributions in 08/09 and 09/10. If i make a claim again in january will they use the tax years 09/10 and 10/11?? I heard this somewhere else but i want to check before i put another claim in and get told i'm not allowed it again!
thanks in advance!

You need to ring up and withdraw your claim from the start.
Then make a new claim on Monday 7 Jan. They change the benefit years the first Sunday in Jan.
You must withdraw the old claim though as it will link otherwise.0 -

This is correct, its really important ensure the claim is withdrawn not just closed. Put it in writing, send a copy from two different post offices and get proof of posting (you don't need recorded or anything) and keep a copy of the letter. I'm not suggesting you'll definitely encounter issues when you make a claim in the New Year but better to have the evidence if you need it
