Telephone interview with Natwest. Tips please!

Hi there,

I've been off work for the past year now as I had a little girl and looking into going back to work part-time.

I went today to a Natwest open day ,a bit of a waste of time, as the lady explained to me very briefly that Natwest was recruiting at the moment and she gave me a reference and a number to call for a phone interview that last about 45 min.

I've never worked in banking before but in event management that I cannot do anymore because of unsuitable hours that wouldn't fit with taking care of my daughter ... so I am looking at a change in career and Natwest seems to offer good training and career prospect.

I have 2 questions really:
- Do you think that they'll consider somebody with no experience in banking??
- Can anybody having had a telephone interview with them or working for them give me any tip for the interview.

Thanks

Yes, they'll consider somebody without previous banking experience. You are saying you are interested in their training.

I haven't had a phone interview with them but if I were expecting a call from them, I would ensure I had all the data they were likely to ask clearly set out and to hand. Things like employment dates, job roles, qualifications. Also I would try to prepare examples of how I had tackled various situations (for real - what I did, not what I would do) - like dealing with difficult people, how I would plan a project.

    Hello tishybabe

Make sure that the '45 minute interview call' is at their expense.;)

Good luck with your job hunt.

    Regards

It was a 0800 number but anyway apparently the lady I spoke this morning didn't have the right infos as they do not have any vacancies part-time at the mo so nothing to worry about now but thanks for your advices.

If you go for it in future, or if you're phoning around agencies and potential employers, remember to smile before you start speaking. You can hear a smile over the phone, even if the other person can't see it, and you'll sound better.
