Kindle Fire not seen by Calibre

I have had Sony ereaders and used Calibre to put books on the ereader. I have had a Kindle Fire HD for my birthday today ! My PC recognises the Kindle but Calibre doesn't. I've spent ages Googling but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone help & advise.

First thing I would suggest is making sure you have the latest version of Calibre, which was announced today. It does include some improvements for Kindle Fire HD, although I'm not sure they'll solve your problem.
Also, what version of Windows are you using? XP isn't supported for Kindle Fire HD.

I am using XP but I understood that it would work on XP if Media Player 11 was installed.
The reason I had the Kindle was because I had seen on the boards that Calibre would work with it.0
