You must be popular at parties....:D
And for how long do you think exponential population growth -- not just in the UK but in the world as a whole -- can go on while resources are finite ? That is a recipe not just for a miserable existence but for no existence at all. Yours is a blinkered, narrow, and short-termist view, as evidenced by the facetious sign-off.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

It's a decent existence for Hamish in his life though. That's what it's all about with Hamish. He's admitted so himself, which I have respect for.0 -

I would say comprehend, rather than respect, for such a self-centred viewpoint.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

Longer than the life span of anyone on the planet today.
You Malthusians have been singing the same old song for a very long time, you're as wrong today and for the foreseeable future as you always have been.Yours is a blinkered, narrow, and short-termist view, as evidenced by the facetious sign-off.
Oh, that wan't facetious.
I can assure you your post got all the respect it deserved.:)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

... ie make hay and and leave the problem for future generations.

And the vast majority of online posters trying to dress up anti immigrant desires in a facade of environmental faux-concern are simply racists and bigots.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

So you either agree with Hamish, and forget anyone born after us...
....or, you are a racist and a bigot.
Hmmm. Bit sh*t either way really, isn't it!0 -

Indeed. There is no bigger bigot than someone who accuses anyone expressing genuine concerns about immigration as a racist. A tired, discredited, and disreputable tactic.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

"The UK will also jump from being the sixth wealthiest country in the world to third, based on national income per head"
H, those two words were an obvious mistake.
Consider the facts.
1 - This is the Daily Mail. More generally, it's a newspaper, small mistakes like that happen. The journo is probably quite innumerate & has to churn out an article strictly to deadline every day without fail.
2 - The UK hasn't been in the per head GDP top six since, well, going back even as far as you being born. We're currently about 20th at best - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita.
3 - But 6th/7th is an pretty much bang on the money for total GDP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal).
4 - The table at the top of the article is clearly a total GDP table, hence India & China in the top ten. Just a coincidence?FACT.0 -

A somewhat selfish attitude to take?0
