Problems with Confused.com

Options
Used this comparison site to get an insurance quote on the car to cover me, my wife and daughter. When it came to completing the driver information there was a question about how long the driver had held their licence. There is a drop down selection for this question which is in whole years up to the final option of 20+ years. I selected this answer for me and my wife. When I completed it for my daughter I rounded it up to the nearest year ie from 2 years 11 months to 3 years. This seemed reasonable as their was no provision to declare years and months - or so I thought!

I took out an insurance policy as a result of the search. As part of policy I had to send copies of the driving licences. About 4 weeks later I had an email from them to say my declaration of 3 years for my daughter was incorrect, as it was actually 2 years 11 months. They asked for another £65 or the policy was void. They offered me less than half of the premium if I cancelled. On complaining to Confused.com they said that they would not uphold the complaint since if I had entered 2 years then a months box would appear so I could then enter the number of months. This only appears if less than 3 years is entered first.

They are going to add some text to clarify this - has anyone else been caught out with this, and what did you do to resolve?

You need to give them (accurate) details for the start of the policy!

I have found it is best to use a comparison site to give an indication of the cheaper insurers but then always go to the actual insurers site ( via cashback site if necessary ) to purchase.

If you look at the variations in the questions asked by different insurers how can one site give accurate results that cover all insurers.

After buying via a comparison site it is therefore quite common to find inaccuracies when you receive your documents from the insurer.
