E-On energy monitor fitted to our meter?

Just came home and noticed our electric meter box outside the house was open, and there was a black box in it...a quick google makes me think it is the sender unit for an E-on energy monitor. We have no idea where it's come from or anything...we are not with eon, never have been. We've not ordered an energy monitor. It's a detached bungalow so no chance of confusing our box with the neighbours...any idea's where it's come from or why anyone would fit one to our meter box?
