reslate price

Hi

Just after a bit of advice, had a quote of £2200 inc vat for re-slating a standard terraced house (with breathable membrane, tantalised battens) including scaffolding back and front...

We are based in East Lancs, Do people think this is a fair price?

  • What slates are they going to be using?

Will they be dressing the existing slates and putting them back on?

    Hi,

Yes they are dressing the existing slates and replacing with same thickness slates where required if the slates on aren't any good (they started this morning and looking at the slates that have been put in the tub, its looking likes theres quite a few to be replaced so far...).

The contracted party has started the work and now your asking whether the quote was reasonable/fair?

Surely you have other quotes to compare or have agreed this contract on the basis you are happy with the quote and have given the go ahead to have to have to work done.

I was happy with the quote (used the roofer many times in the past and never had any issues with his work or prices)

I asked the original question on the 20/12/12 (and accepted his price (on the 27/12/12) after talking to a few other people (not on the forum!)) as I received no replys to my question on the forum.

I was in my mind happy with the price quoted, but just wanted to get an idea of pricing for a similar job in this area. Plus, due to roof leaking water in, I did try and get a couple of other quotes, but due to the bad weather recently, most of the roofing contractors I called said it would be a few weeks before they could come and give a price (obviously with the roof leaking, I couldn't wait that long).

Perhaps I mis-worded the orig question...
