Da Bird is brilliant. My problem though is that one of mine simply destroys it if she catches it - she'll immediately inflict a "killing bite" around where the feathers are attached and its broken.

So.... I got a lazer pen. They go crazy and can't harm it. I always give them a few crunchies after play so that they feel that they have "caught" something. Interestingly they seem to be able to see a green lazer dot much better then a red one (when my red one broke, I tried a green - the difference is dramatic - its like Da Bird again).

Do what i do............ Go out to the country/forest and pick up feathers. Heat glue the ends togethers and then cover in tape and replace the broken feathers on it. Its cheaper and to be fair, they love the different types of feathers you can find
• Another Da Bird convert here. Previously I thought some of the comments on this toy may have been exaggerated, but having bought one for my boy for christmas I have never seen him jump so high and play for so long. The elastic came undone on the third play last night but easily tied back on.
when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it :o
• Before I saw this post I ordered a Cat Dangler Pole Bird from zooplus when I placed a order for some cat food and litter. It's the same principle and looks very similar to Da-bird but only cost £1.49.

It arrived this morning and the cats love it. Salem hasn't played much with us since we got Gizmo, he'll play with Gizmo but shows no interest what so ever in playing with us even when we play with his favourite toys. He was jumping around and pouncing. It's the best £1.49 I've spent.

I had read the comments about people's cat's leading them to the cupboard and trying to get into the cupboard ...

Splat has started that this morning!! lol She keeps clawing at the door trying to open it, then looks as us as if to say "Well come on then...get it out!!" lol We did the first time but since she was panting like a dog we stopped it for this morning! Trying to work out with her how long til she starts panting, but she hides it, until she physically can't any longer! Such a clever kitty!

If your cat love cat nip then rub some on the feather!

Albus loves the "nip" and loves the feather so I thought id rub some on.

Ive never seen that lard a@se move so fast in my life, he caught the feather pulled the stick out of my hand, dragged the whole thing around the house then laid dribbling with it on the carpet.

This sounds fun. I bet one of my cats would destroy it straight away as she is a great hunter. I might try the Zooplus one first as it's cheaper.:)

My cat hunts a lot too and after two days Da Bird no longer looks new BUT it is not destroyed. She has run off with it quite a few times.

I'll admit I was sceptical but my cat LOVES this toy! She even totally ignores her food bowl when playing

:p I'm tempted, I'm just reading the reviews on Amazon now. I have six cats so I might have to get more than one.;)

Ps: she has a habit when she jumps and twists sideways to go into things...she does not hurt herself when she does it! Lol
