altering staircase

the internal wall of our bathroom is at the top of the stairs & I've checked that its not load bearing, its been built on top of the floorboards - I would like to, if poss, move this wall further out onto the landing by about a foot - this would only leave just over another foot at top of stairs - is it possible to alter present staircase to turn towards the top instead of going straight up, moving the exit by 90 degrees, or would I have to have a whole new staircase?

Think you'll find altering staircases require Building Regs approval. Might be worth speaking to Building Control at local council to make sure.0

trying to work out a way to increase bathroom size without going down the extension route0

Perhaps get the advice from a Structural Engineer or Chartered Building Surveyor. RICS website https://www.rics.org 'Find a Surveyor' - ring around and see if anyone can give you some advice. Don't know professional body for SE's but I'm sure someone out there does!0
