Hubby's NatWest a/c - upgrading his card

Hi! My hubby has a current account at NatWest, and has done for over 20 years. In the last six months, he's found that he can't get cash out from just any ATM, like I can (I've also had a NatWest account for over 20 years). He queried this with the bank, who said that he would have to order an Equifax credit report!! I've got an Advantage Gold account, and he doesn't, but surely that shouldn't matter? What's their problem?

Sounds like he just has a Basic account, which is restricted to RBS/Natwest ATMs. He'll need to apply for a full current account if he wants a card that will work in all ATMsDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

My ex has the same issue, the bank told him he 'HAD' to upgrade to Select Silver at £8 p/m (soon to be £10), so he went elsewhere as they wouldn't give him a full auth visa debit card0

So has he checked his credit reports to see if there is anything that might prevent him being considered for a full account? Better to do that before starting to apply, and if there is an issue try to get it resolved.0
