carpet fraying and coming loose from transition strip

Hello,
I have a few days off work so I'm taking care of some little DIY jobs around the house.
We have transition strip along the threshold of our door from the kitchen (tile) to the living room (carpet). On the living room side, the carpet is starting to pull away and fray around the strip.
I thought I would pull up the carpet strip, tuck the carpet under, and then nail it back in place. However I noticed this morning that the carpet installers evidently cemented strip to the floor, I guess because it was half on stone tile.
It seems extreme to pry up the strip and find a new one to cement in its place. So my questions are:
1. Would it work for me to stick some adhesive on the edge of the carpet and stick it back under the strip with a chisel or something similar?
2. If so, what adhesive would you recommend?
3. I notice there are wood or wood-finish transition strips that you can put on top of metal strips. Would it be a good idea to bung one of those on as well? (Wider, so potentially will prevent future fraying.)
Thanks to anyone who has a comment or suggestion.

sounds like your carpet needs stretched, carpet fitter required.;)0

Or get a stretcher from the bay for £22. Is it on the wood floorboard side?
If so maybe a staple gun could be used to hold it down.
