You could also try fatfingers.com - also very good!

there are a few other sites - but i cant for the life of me remember.

They let yopu search for items on ebay without going on ebay (as our work has a nasty firewall

    Anyone know what they are

There are quite a few misspell tools out there, but the best use a natural search, rather than an algorithmic search and will open up after only one click. Goofbay.com & fatfingers.com are generally thought to be the most effective searches around at the moment.

A natural search will look for genuine typos based on common mis-spells, transposition of letters, letter ommisions and accidently pressing the wrong key. Instead of Playstation, the seller types Plystation - missing the first A; Pkaystation - L & K being adjacent keys; or Plasytation - S & Y the wrong way round.

A lot of search tools simply use combinations of spelling variations, Playstation, Olaystation, Ilaystation etc - as far as programming goes, it is relatively easy to do but does not bring home the bacon so to speak.

It's also worth remembering that ALL THE MISSPELL SITES ARE EBAY AFFILIATE EARNERS - any purchases you make through their search tools will earn them a commision! I know - I own one of these sites! :D

I sometimes put a misspelling into my auctions deliberatly because if sellers can misspell things than maybe buyers can misspell their searches as well.
  • Are there any that search for words run together or separated when when they shouldn't be (e.g. Play Station or SonyPlaystation etc)?

i think there are also some websites that you can go on similar to goofbay that will search ebay for you without actually going onto an ebay webpage (which the firewall puicks up).

It was always a good way of checking the state of an auction from work.

Unfortunately i lost all my favorites and the sites i used were in there (not in my mind sadly)

    Anyone know any good ones

    Cheers

You need to use a proxy, something like https://www.hidemyass.com or just google for "free proxys" that way you should be able to browse eBay, or if that doesn't work, setup a circumventor: http://www.peacefire.org/circumventor/simple-circumventor-instructions.html

LOL, all those sites are blocked by the firewall.

It was definately a web site based search that would search ebay and you could view the item but if you clicked it entered into ebay and got blocked. It was purely for vierwing and tracking
