I've just registered on this swapit doohicky - I'm 22, and I've filled the form in correctly and it's let me register. Will this cause any problems later on?

That's what I mean. I decided to give it a shot, I put in my truthful age and it let me register no problem.

I wonder if they do that because it is possible that some parents would register on behalf of their younger children?

    Just a thought - I don't know.

Having become a victim of it ourselves - I've been shocked to see what goes on, and am flagging this up as a potential hazard to MSE'ers.

There seem to be a whole group of people using a certain Forum that gets plugged on here by the poster who often sticks up the codes, where they are doing "off site" deals to trade between themselves - it appears to be widespread. In our case we lost out even when we won a supposedly open auction (as they all are) because it was an agreed off site deal.

Clearly Swapitshop know nothing of this - but they certainly soon will!

It seems to me to be totally fraudulent and dishonest - but senior people at the site in question including the Mods seem to be happily involved.

When I tried to query it with the culprit, needless to say all I got was abuse - which says something about the level of people we're talking about...

  • Well the original person who did that had a different ID, but bearing in mind the sort of people we are talking about, i guess they might have multiple IDs.

Despite our previous disagreements superkrazy, I was sorry to hear from you that your MSE account was hacked by this person. I hope it has been sorted out for you now.
