Sat Nav Traffic Updates in France?

I am borrowing my dad's Garmin 310 Deluxe to go to France (it has European Mapping on it).

It has the integrated FM receiver thingy which I assume will help me avoid traffic jams between here and Dover, but do these things work in France?

Although from experience of using the GB version..it's hopeless!

thank you. does that mean that i'll be able to use it automatically though, or do I have to subscribe in some way?

I use a tomtom 510 & it's set to pick up transmission signals auto, I would imagine its the same with the Garmin uit i'm not aware you'd need a subscription for use abroad as it's the same here it's a signal broadcast over a radio channel once you buy the unit/reciever that should be it

I have the Garmin 510 deluxe and have used in it France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Italy. They ALL have better reception than the UK for traffic updates You should have no problems at all!...and it's all free.
