Gravel boards indoors

Are they safe to use indoors? My builder as used some for floorboards, bought from B&Q, as he says they will stop the wood rotting (they have been laid on a concrete floor). This is in the hallway.
Plan to cover with hardboard and carpet.
thanks

A builder buying material at b&q is no builder.
There are no safety concerns but I don't see why they would rot if normal boards were laid over a floor with a damp course.0 -
Unsafe - not if they have been laid over a concrete floor. If used over timber joists there might be issues with them not being strong enough to support the weight of people, furniture etc.
Don't understand why anyone would want to use them inside, or for that matter to lay timber boards directly onto a concrete floor. How are they fixed?0 -

I would suggest you are wrong. Tradepoints prices on building staples are pretty hard to beat. Cement, sand bags of plaster, plasterboard, cls timber are all much cheaper than the likes of Travis Perkins whose prices seem to be made up from last weeks lottery numbers.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Phil's right - particularly about TP. Have to say this but check your pricing carefully - some Tradepoint prices are more expensive than the Retail Floor.
Their big advantage is that they are open until 9pm where I am 5 days a week when I need something in a hurry that inevitably isn't on the van.
