Beagle Street is part of BISL - Compare the Market.

There are only 22 CI definitions covered.
Interesting and case in point then. Less than half of the number of conditions on a typical plan. I doubt it stacks up very well against the other points raised either. An example of false economy?

    Absolutely.

I guess we all have our little foibles. One of mine is the need for a sternotomy, before a successful heart surgery claim can be made (aorta graft, artery bypass grafts, valve replacement etc).

I wouldn't use an insurer which had such a need. Getting a claim paid where keyhole surgery by Da Vinci robot could reduce the recovery period by a couple of months seems like something we should look out for for ourselves and our clients...

... among many other things, of course.

Good example. Funnily enough, you don't get that sort of information from Compare the Market!

    Quite.

I do comparisons for other members of my network. I sit and analyse the terms of their client's current CI cover and compare it to the recommended product for a rebroke.

It's often a case of an odd "easier" definition, but fewer definitions pre-2001, versus the ABI+ and additional definitions of the current plans.

All you can do is put it in front of the client and ask them to decide what's more important, based on probability of an event.

    Difficult, sometimes.
