The passbook account is probably paying diddly squat in interest.
.........Or ask to see a mortgage adviser at a Lloyds branch and see what they offer you!
I did think of that, but then I thought the whole point was to prove where the money had come from and where to?
They cheeky !!!!!!s did ask why we weren't getting a mortgage from them, but due to circumstances (my credit history, and the fact we have two other properties between us) they wouldn't be able to help.LBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130

Anybody can make fake documents... So surely the banks contact each other to be sure it's legit!? Therefore if I provide my name, address, account number, sort code that should be enough...0

What I'd like to see examined (maybe just once) is what is the actual evidence that money laundering (basically CYA and don't-sue-us) practices by banks et al in relation to terrorist activity like opening lots of ISAs fraudulently or pension products to lift the tax relief in 25 years time has been responsible for any i) non paper-cut crimes prevented or ii) led to the conviction of serious Mr Bigs?Credit-Crunched wrote: »This article clearly does not understand the importance of lenders obtaining the correct information, to base the decision to lend hundreds of thousands of pounds.
I personally would not feel happy to lend money to someone who turns up with basically an excel spreadsheet saying this is my bank account.
Not once in this article is anti money laundering mentioned, the banks and building societies have a legal obligation to ensure they have sufficient evidence that the documentation provided is accurate and genuine.Order before you apply, simples...
It hasn't happened of course, because 'money laundering' is term properly applied to the state these days. In fact 'terrorism' is actually beneficial to the state - the more so it is of the imaginary variety like this......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

I know this is an old thread but it seems the most relevant to my query. I have today received an email from Aylesbury Vale Council telling me that as a user of their old system I now need to sign up to their new system. I've used it to pay for my green bin and report problems in the past. However before signing up I checked on the terms and conditions and it says this:
"By accessing your Council Tax, Benefits & Business rates information online, you are automatically agreeing to:
Accept the terms and conditions listed below Receive council tax bills electronically, instead of by post."
What I am not sure is if accessing means signing up online or going through to a specific area? I really, really don't want to have an e-bill because it is about the only document I have left for ID which I have had to produce for all sorts of things. Nearly every year something has come up which requires me to produce it.
If I can't sign up to their service without being forced into an e-bill it will be frustrating but I can't lose my paper bill! Anyone know?0

I noticed the last time i logged onto my ebanking a/c there was a link to click if you wanted to change back to paper statements. Have a look at your bank Rosie, even if you only change for 1 or 2 months, you can use them as ID.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Thanks SamSailor but bank statements are usually only any use for 3 months and you have to wait until the next statement arrives, plus my account only give me the perks of it if I'm paperless. The council tax bill is great because everyone accepts it and it can be used for the whole year. It's annoying that councils are pushing for it to be paperless.0

It's perfectly understandable that councils are pushing for paperless as the scarce public money is better used on something other than printing and mailing bills.
You can get an additional free-of-charge bank account that snail-mails you a bank statement every month.
Also check that you are on the electoral roll with your current address, and that your CRA files say so. This will be enough for many organisations to confirm your address.0

I suppose so, it would be more helpful if a photocard driving licence was sufficient ID. And yes all my electoral roll stuff is up to date and correct. I can only assume I must deal with the most awkward organisations as without my council tax bill I would have been left high and dry several times.
In my head as well having one page of bill printed and sent every year was much more environmentally friendly than the reams of paper banks used to send a statement on monthly. I would even pay slightly more for my council tax to keep my paper bill if cost was the problem.0

I had a feeling this would be a problem when they introduced paperless everything, and so opted out of it from my banks and credit card companies.
No choice was given for utilities, because the tariff requires paperless billing, which is annoying.
I also find it easier to keep track of everything with a paper bill, but that's just me.0

As stated in recent posts, the thread is old and not only that it's outdated.
These days there is the ubiquitous demand for photo ID such as a driving license or passport and official documentation to verify address such as tax, D.W.P., Jobcentre, local council tax, etc.
Over three credit applications in the last six months, bank statement and credit card statement was not even in the list of acceptable documentation. Similarly when registering for online statements for my upcoming state pension it was photo ID and an official letter or statement.
So if you don't have a driving license or passport go get one.0
