Do Home insurance policies insure you for 6 months? instead of a year?

Do home insurance policies allow you to choose their policy for just 6 months or less? compared to 1 year?

I mean with llyds tsb home insurance specifically.

Generally just 12 months but most can be cancelled if they are no longer required.

Just have a good read of the cancellation charges before you buy.

If not on the standard policy then you could always ring and ask them to tailor make it to suit. Might be more expensive than doing 12 months and cancelling though.
  • There are some originally sub prime home insurance policies that are actually rolling monthly policies with an annual review and thus you can stop the policy mid term with the only cost being the remainder of that month.

Your looking at a fairly small market and therefore it may be cheaper to buy an annual policy and cancel rather than limiting yourself to a small number of providers that do something other than 12 month policies

You can usually cancel a policy at any time providing that you have not made a claim since you took the policy out.

Also look out for policies that have offered "cashback" after a certain period as this may affect your refund.

Most policies will have a cancellation / admin charge which could be £25 to £50 (or more) - ask them or read policy docs.

Some companies allow cancellation with no fee if you give them a notice period - eg 1 month.

Lloyds supply a lot of different policies so it's impossible to know what your terms are. The best thing is to ring them and ask.
