I've just bought a new 2gb sandisk flashcard, it's only about a quarter full and when trying to add more files windows tells me I'm unable to do so.
I probably know the answer to this one, "it's a faulty card",
but I was hoping theres some diagnosis tool or something to get around this if it's a common fault.
Thanks

Here's a posibility. What device are you using this with? Does it have a limit to the size of memory that it can handle? (512MB maybe?)
Might be worth checking the manual.0 -
Have you tried formatting it again? Could be something simple like a screwed MFT.Te audire no possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure.0

Where did you buy it ?

Indeed. You can get cheap cards on eBay from the far east, but some of them are fake and do not hold the advertised size (e.g. someone buys a bulk of el-cheapo 512MB cards, sticks some nice Sandisk 2GB stickers on them and sell them on eBay).
If you did buy it on an auction site, always check the feedback prior to bidding.0 -
Thanks i've formatted it again, and it seems to have sorted it.
It was initially formated in FAT and would only allow one quarter of the card to be used.
I've formatted it to FAT32 and it allowed me to use it to full capacity. The only problem is the card reader (its for a gameboy advance) will only accept FAT format not the other method.
I've reformatted it back to FAT and again I'm stuck with only quarter of the card being able to be used.
Does this sound normal?0 -
Hm, theoretically, FAT16 supports up to 2GB.

Do you mean the PC doesn't recognise more than 512MB, or the GBA? In the latter case, it might be a limitation of the supercard (although some of those also suppot 2GB: http://eng.supercard.cn/products_sd.htm)
Did you format it with the standard Windows XP tool from the right click?0
