Transferring existing mortgage/refinance

Hi moneysavers!
My question is a bit of tricky one, I have not able to find an answer/someone in a similar situation so far.
My mother in law is going through a divorce, and more than likely she will have to sell the house she lives in to repay her ex.
Now, she does not really want to move (memories, community, etc), but she cannot refinance (I think being 70 she's considered, well - too old).
Would it be possible for me to be added to the mortgage and take over the payments/responsibility???
Thanks in advance for your help & Happy Christmas!

Will you be living in the property ?
How much do you need to borrow and what is your income ?
You need to consider what would happen if you want to buy a property for yourself and you are still on the mortgage of your mum's house0
