I have finally put together an excel spreadsheet that calculates my mortgage interest daily so I can predict where I will be with my ballance at the end of each month.
I am currently planning to add £400 into my offset on top of normal payments every month and on the 1st of April 2010 I should be down to £96,276 if all goes as planned.
On 1st of April 2007 = £126,814
Currently = £125,092 (less offset = £120,592)
MF 25/06/2017.MFiT Member #72
£126,814 @ 1st April 2007
£113,900 @ 1st Jan 2008 (incl. offset=£9600)
Balance reduced by £12,900 since 1st of April - 11.1% (currently on target to reduce it from £126,814 down to £100,000 by the end of 3 years)
shortened by 4 yrs | Sep/2027 -19.92yrs ---> Oct/2021 - 13.74yrs | Saved £53,0000 -
Well I had a coup yesterday, as some of you may know there is a Next sale on this weekend!
I toddled in there as DD could do with some tshirts that are somewhere near her waistband.
She fleeced me for a tunic and leggings combo but the rest of my money got spent on toiletries kits for the men of the family.
I got 5 washbag and kits for £7 each down from £15.
I also managed to get my friends birthday present a chocolate moisturiser set. Stupidly I decided that I should go back and get another 3 sets after I had done my Asda shop but they had all gone by then.
So I spent £48 and got 6 gifts.
My next stop was B&Q as I heard they had a sale on and I need some black gloss paint.
No reduced paint but they have had a book in there for ages "The energy age" that was £10. I've wanted this book since it came out but didn't want to pay that amount for it.
They had 5 copies left at £1 each so I bought them as that will be more Christmas gifts.
So a total of £53 spent and 11 gifts got. I'm well chuffed with my haul. I then went into the A shop (no points grrr!) and bought some wrapping paper so I will wrap all the presents I have bought so far later on.
I can then have a little sit down and see what else I need to get to finish my Christmas shopping.
As a family we were all going to have the nintendo wii but I don't know where we are going to get one from.
DH hopes to get our lounge and dining room decorated before christmas which means we could be looking at getting our bedroom done by easter. Then it's the hall stairs and landing. I'll finally get my safe bannisters fitted!
We have about £3000 left to spend to do the house up and hopefully it will be done by the end of next year.
I think that it will have to wait until then before we start making inroads into what we have borrowed from the savings account and we will probably need to borrow more over the coming months. Once all of the work is done it will be great. I've never lived in a house that isn't a building site before. What's it like to not walk around standing on bits of plaster or having peeling wall paper?
I expect we should be able to chuck more money at our repayments once the house is done and the savings are repaid.
I had some chaps around the other day to give me a quote for doing the work at the front of the house but I've just signed DS up for another full day at preschool so he will be going for 3.5 days a week.
I ought to be able to do it if he's going to be away for that length of time because I'll have more free days and be getting more sleep.
All I need to do now is get DH to agree to load the car up in the evenings while I'm at work so that in the morning I can drop DS off at preschool and then go straight to the tip!
Anyone elses head spinning? Anyone fancy coming round to give me a hand? Wow Kaz sounds like you had a very productive day, well done
I need to update my Christmas shopping list with what I have so far.
On the decorating front I need to paint DD's room before I move her cabin bed in there. DS's new bed should be delivered in the next couple of weeks and will need building, at a push I can leave off decorating his room for now. And our hall stairs and landing desperately need doing due to the accumulation of little hand prints! There are only so many times you can wipe down the paint work before it really needs redoing!
Weston sounds like it could be fun, could send our kids out on the beach while we set toOfficial Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -

Wow what a lot of new posts on here just managed to catch up. I have had such a hectic time 1 week in Spain then 5 days at work then 6 days in Denmark with the family and this week my uncle has been visiting me so not been able to do a lot. He has now gone back to his house in Spain and I am ready to tackle next week and a lot of work commitments.
I read the discussion about children and work. My parrents worked and I certainly looked up to my mum for working and being so successfull in her job. Just come back from visiting my younger sister her husband works full time and so does she but she has been on maternily leave since March and had my niece in June. She is going to be off for a whole year and when she goes back both the baby and my newphew aged 4 will be in childcare.
I dont have any children and at aged 37 with DH being 45 I wonder if we have left it too late. I never really got around to making the decision about having them or not which I think is a mistake. Looking at my lovely 3 months old niece she is so sweet but also such hard work. I am really proud of what I have achieved with work but I am not 100% happy with my job and if I decided to have children I would have to give it up (too much travelling).
I could not give up totally if we did decide to have children (that is if we can have any) but any job I took would be on a lot less pay than I am on now. Also I am not sure we could live in our current house if we have a child.
Well sorry for the ramblings it just made me think reading your posts. I am going to be so busy next week away for most of the week but promise I will update the chart if you PM me by the 12th October. I so far have 10 PMs to sort out but will do it some other time.

Wow Kaz - nice work! Am now trying to persuade Mr Lion to go on a serious xmas bargain hunt.
We have a wii and it is brilliant (am now golf addict having just attained 'pro' status!) we used http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/ to find them in stock, though sometimes you need to buy a bundle to get hold of the console (this option can be reasonably good value too although the games are still so expensive due to demand)MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

Thanks for the tip mountainlioness, just been there to have a look but couldn't find anywhere that had any in stock.
May just have to check every day to make sure I get one.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
