How to find cheapest supplier when moving house?

We have our house up for sale and when we move I want to negotiate all the best deals for gas, elec, insurance etc. How can you find out which gas/electric company will be the cheapest when you are going to a different house and therefore have no idea what your consumption will be there? Do you look at price per unit?

You can either look at price per unit, or you can answer a few questions on a switching site which will guesstimate your usage. Don't forget to register with the old owner's supplier at your new property when you move in and give them meter readings.
