Help!! Landlords insurance - best deals??

Hi really need the forums help and advice as have a bit of a problem.

I have been insured via Direct Line for the last 12 months and just had a renewal notice that I was looking to take up.......however!!!

The property is joint owned by myself and my ex wife and was occupied by tenants up to 75 days ago until they left, when the ex wife rang to renew today (the insurance runs out tomorrow!) she was told they would not renew as it has been unoccupied for 60 days. So now I am left with 24 hours to get something in place.

Any help around best places for cover and best deals would really be much appreciated. Property is mid terrace house.

Just google empty property insurance and there will be dozens of websites. I would imagine it will be more expensive than standard insurance because of the obvious risks to a long term empty property especially in winter. I can't recommend any as I have never had a long term void.

Thanks not likely to be empty long as prospective tenant likely to move in just after new year.

Some insurers will allow you to take out void insurance on a month by month basis - they tend to be the more specialist landlord insurers like Towergate etc. You may not need the full month - but the alternative of risking no insurance isn't an option I'd take.

property insurance is probably the best option, it protects the contents in your building, and is the most popular for the kind of situation you're in.
