Your OH would be able to claim Carers Allowance, as long as he is providing care for 35 hours a week.
He would then be able to claim IS but as you would be included in that claim your earnings would affect the amount of benefit received.
Anything that you earned over £20 a week would be deducted from the IS pound for pound. You would be able to work for up to 24 hours a week as a dependant on the IS claim.

Even though you might not get a lot of IS, the entitlement to this means that you would get Council Tax benefit and other peripherals ie, free prescriptions, school dinners ..

    thanks for reply....
i curently work 18-20 hours per week at £6.80 an hour. i currently claim the ca for our son but my income was over the threshold of £100 however they took my childcare into consideraton allowing me to get the carers... with my oh made redundant i will no longr need childcare ao i cant claim the ca..
i always thought that my oh could claim jsa cb AND the carers premium of £32 however cab told me today he couldnt :( he cant go on jsa ib because he has paid enought in ni contributions... it is very confusing :(

so im wondering if he can claim the income support for himself?

In principle, you can pay twice the excess earnings into a personal pension every week, and requalify for CA.

As Ceece1 has stated, any claim for IS would have to be as a couple
