Hi folks,
For some odd reason I am now getting error message 25 (No Satellite Signal Received) on a few channels only namely bbc2 England,bbc3,bbc4,bbc news24,CBeebies and CBBC. All other channels seem to be working fine etc.
My sky box is fed from a communal satellite system which was installed a few weeks ago so it is maybe that.
I have already done the following ....
(1) Reset the sky box using 401select "Full System Reset" and the other way using power off then hold backup whilst powering back on.
(2) Phoned up Sky technical support ... went through a load of diagnostic rubbish and ended up saying I need an engineer to come out at 65quid!!
(3) Checked with my neighbour upstairs and he had had the same problem (missing the same channels as me) since the new aerial system was installed.
So any tips ..... Just that I want as much knowledge as possible as Sky and the company who installed the aerial system are likely to blame each other leaving me and my neighbour piggy in the middle with no solution to this problem.
From googling around it seems that the above fore-mentioned channels all sit on (muxed - multiplexed I assume) the same frequency of 10.757GHz (or 10.773GHz???) Horizontal with 22Mbaud and 5/6FEC whatever that means. I tried manually tuning via the installer menu (service - 401select) and I get no signal found. Is it possible that the dish is slightly misaligned as I thought alignment issues just involved getting all channels or none!! Could it be interference??? what else transmits at 10.757GHz???? any strange military activity going on in the cheshire region??? lol
I have noticed a LNB power supply option (on or off) which could cause problems I guess??? I have tried turning this off to no effect as I assume the communal dish has it's own LNB supply. (try with the neighbour in the morning).
As this post is very technical can any1 at least recommend another forum where I can post this to get a decent reply?
Though I am sometimes surprised by what people know who read this forum!! (or don't know!!! lol)
Thanks in advance
Jools
PS I more or less know that if I let the sky engineer come out he will blame the aerial system ... any reason why I should call the sky engineer out??

Try the Digital Spy forums. That's the online hangout for UK satellite experts. The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.0

Check with your neighbours, if they all have the same problem then it's probably the dish/LNB/Alignment/Obstructed. Otherwise it could be the wiring to your own system. Sometimes if the weather conditions change you can lose certain channels, specially if the dish is not perfectly aligned.0

You could also try https://www.avforums.com, lots of AV techy propeller heads on there. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
If it was only installed a few weeks ago, surely there must be some kind of warrantee? Was the installation arranged through Sky? If so, it's their responsibility to sort it out.Charlie0

Sounds like a loose connection in your cabling somewhere. Try tracing it back from your digi box to the distribution box, probably in the communal roof space or tank room. Remember to ensure the "F" connector in to the back of the digi box is screwed in properley and is finger tight and that the cable is inserted in to it properly.0

I have exactly the same problem with Sky HD box installed a few days ago - just the same channels missing. If you find the answer let me know ! or pm me so we can compare notes e.g. is it the same manufacturer, settings etc. Cheers.0

Since two separate Sky Digiboxes are affected, it's clearly a problem with the head end system. You need to get the installer back. Contact your building management company in writing (both of you).0

Thanks for all your answers....
Seems to be working again now !!!! Dunno why so it's an intermittent fault though my neighbour seems to have the problem all the time.
I have called the building man. company and reported the fault (mine being intermittent) and the neighbours being permanent.
Since have found out that all these channels sit on 10.773GHz H polarisation 22 5/6FEC. I'll get my neighbour to check out his connectors.
