Benefits after redundancy

hi...just wondering if there are any benefit clued up people out there willing to offer me advice please
currently, i am working 18 hours per week, my earnings are over the £100 threshold for carers allowance (i get middle rate dla for my son) however because i pay childcare of £85 , carers allowance are allowed to disregard so much therfore i am able to claim the full amount of carers allowance and have been doing since 2 year ago.
my oh has been made redundant so we wont need to be paying out childcare any longer, therefore my carers allowance will stop.
i thought my oh could claim a carers premium of £32 as he will be putting in a claim for jsa-contribution based. however i have heard today that he wont be able to claim the carers premium or carers as he can only claim that if he is on jsa-income based
im really rubbish at all of this, we arre pretty clueless...
we went to cab this morning- what a waste of time
at first they asked my earnings last year, told them £7000, he wrote it down and went offm came back and gave me calculations based on £700 , he only missed the 0 off... he then went away and came back with more codswallop....
anyhow can anyone please give any advise on our entitlements...
my son is 10 and we have also have 2 girls age 4&5,
oh the adviser at cab also stated that i would get working tax even though i only work 18 hours a week as the rules are different if you have a disabled child... however i cant find anything on the internet to back this up

use entitled to calculator (it's pretty accurate).
If your OH becomes the carer I think it is deducted from the JSA claim, yes you can claim WTC, but the calculator will give you a better idea including any other low income benefits like council tax and housing benefit.0 -
thanks for reply, the calculator on there isnt teling me much, i have tried it twice, 1st time it stated that if oh is on jsa (didnt say if it was ib of cb) then we would get maximum of tax credits £220... however when i redone it and added the cb jsa it came out at £115 .
also is states im not entitled to wtc????0 -
Did you put it down with him receving carers? It's the carers allowance that makes it 16 hours as far as I know - I'll do a a quick calc for you on HmRC re the Tax Credits.0
-
Actually it's not saying you are entitled either - I could be wrong. If someone else can't asnwer I will do some googling for you.0

Hmm google seems to say that as your OH will be incapacitated - the 16 hours still remains.
Couples with children who qualify for WTC in some other way will not be subject to the new hour requirement. This applies to people who qualify for the disability element of WTC or who are aged 60 or over. Both groups will continue to qualify for WTC by working at least 16 hours.
Couples with children where one person is working at least 16 hours and their partner is:- incapacitated
- in prison
- in hospital
- entitled to carer’s allowance
