Where is this mentioned as I wasn't aware of this benefit - not that I would use it over my Clarity card, just curious?
I was certain there is a benefit in using the FlexDirect debit card vs the FlexAccount debit card when you are outside the Visa Europe (Euro) region...
As an aside, I have the 'Cash Reward" credit card as opposed to the plain old "Nationwide" credit card which seems to give the same benefits as the "Select" credit card?
So should I get a "Clarity"? I assume that is Halifax's offering?0 -
I looked on the overseas cost part on the Nationwide website and couldnt see any difference between the two.
I also have the cash reward card and that seems to be the same as the Select one - no fee on purchases but fee on cash withdrawals.
Halifax Clarify doesnt charge a fee for cash withdrawals or purchases, only interest on the amount withdrawn which can be avoided by paying it off early and/or preloading the card. Hard to beat imo.0 -

So if I get a 'Clarity' credit card and preload it, I can use it to withdraw cash from a foreign ATM at the actual exchange rate and there is no fee for the foreign cash withdrawal and no commission charge on the currency rate?0 -
Assuming you pre-load then you get the inter-bank exchange rate with no added currency conversion or handling charge/withdrawal fee on top.So if I get a 'Clarity' credit card and preload it, I can use it to withdraw cash from a foreign ATM at the actual exchange rate and there is no fee for the foreign cash withdrawal and no commission charge on the currency rate?
If you work out the exchange rate on xe.com or similar, that is the amount that you will get on your statement.0 -
It's against the T&Cs of the clarity card to preload it as it's a credit card. You might be able to get away with it for small amounts but they may stop the card.
t's suggested that a faster payment is made the same day as any withdrawal as to minimise interest.
Also, be aware that it will be listed as a cash advance on your credit report and may look bad further down the line. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
