Hi guys,
I wanted to spread the word about this collective switching scheme run in conjuntion with my local authority, my friend got me on to it:
Just search for Peterborough Collective switching scheme, Ready to Switch
The idea being, the more people that sign up the better bargaining tool we have with the energy companies:grouphug:.
Anyone can sign up, you dont need to live in Peterborough!! my family live in Manchester and they have signed up. And the good thing is that even if you sign up and you dont like the offer put forward by the energy company there is NO OBLIGATION :Tto go any further and no company will be passed your details. Certainly worth a look.
Merry Christmas, Frankie

Completely unworkable, energy prices are regional and prices in Manchester are likely to be different from those in Peterborough, and just because one Energy supplier offers the best deal to certain postcodes, doesn't mean that it would be the best deal to an address in Lancashire or one in Inverness. Unless of course this supplier is offering fixed prices right across England, Wales and Scotland....
Oh Look there goes Santa on his sleigh pulled by a team of flying pigs
The fact that this small but obvious point has been lost by those organising it, would seem to indicate that they don't have the most basic clue about how energy companies work or the regional price variations, and for that reason i'm out.
They would probably be better advised to organise a highly publicised nationwide protest consisting of several million people to force the energy companies to reduce their prices across the board for everyone......

Which? already tried this (The Big Switch): with all their buying power and consumer market knowledge. The results were no better than what an individual buyer could find on any comp site in 2 minutes.
287,000 people signed up, only 37,000 switched.
BG have 12m customers, so it's hardly going to worry them.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
The confusion most folks have is estimating their usage based on previous bills, in order to get a meaningful quote.
I think the big players are happy with this confusion.
The tool that is needed is the ability to export a block of highly standard consumption data from your current energy provider account, and easily be able to submit it to others for competitive quotes.0
