Kitchen Design

Hi guys, wondered if you could help. As a Kitchen Designer, all my plans, perspectives and 3Ds are drawn by hand. Although my clients like the personal service, some people would like to see them done by computer. I have seen this site http://www.kitchen-design-online.co.uk and wondered where I could purchase a package such as this?

Thanks for your help.

  • 'Chief Architect' is probably the best program of this kind there is. I've played a bit with the trial version and loved it. I was able to produce stuff that looked like the computer models you see in Property Ladder or Grand Designs (minus the funky background music) :D

Chief Architect cost an arm and a leg though. The same company that makes Chief Architect sells another program called 'Home Designer Suite', which is a lot cheaper (£40) and it is highly rated also. Apparently, Home Designer Suite is Chief Architect minus a few features.

Home Designer Suite also looks good for you in the sense that you could show potential clients how their kitchen would fit in with the rest of the house, which is something that a kitchen design-only program won't give you. If apart from creating the kitchen design, you're able to create a computer model for say, the downstairs floor, I bet the kitchen design would be a lot easier to sell. Especially if it involves knocking down walls ala Sarah Beeny ;)

The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

Have you considered KitchedDraw? Have a look here. You can install it and have 30 hours of use free before you then have to purchase more time, if you have decided it is the package for you.

I used Vn 4 a couple of years ago to design my new kitchen.

There is a free download of Floorplan 9 mentioned somewhere on here. Download it from:

    http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2163349/floorplan-3d

    Then follow these instructions:

Thank you for choosing to install Floorplan

    After you have downloaded the software from the VNU website, please follow these instructions to install the product;

After downloading the file, double click the EXE file.

Type in 145-487-238-479 as the password to start installation of the file

Once installed, open FloorPlan, select 'Telephone Registration' and enter the following code WZ38AU

This is design software for a complete house, including kitchen. Worth a look for £0.

I've used Kitchendraw in the past and I found it powerful and easy to use, and FREE for the first 30 hours of use. Give it a go!
  • Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll have a look through them all properly. Up against some deadlines at the moment!

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want an American package as their appliances are different sizes to ours and in feet and inches! I would definately want metric and English...
