Income Support. How long to sort claim?

Hi, just a quick query for hubby ( we are separated)
Rang IS on Thur 6th december, recieved form on sat and returned it on mon 10th dec. Just wondered how long on average they take? I cant sort my HB and CTB till they have awarded the IS, and the longer it takes the more in arrears i get - not a good look this close to xmas! the website said 8 days, the phone advisor 16!

dont worry about arrears. your housing council tax benefit will be backdated to the start of your IS claim.
how long it takes is all dependant on how busy they are0
