'Households who fixed energy are the winners'
'Those who've never switched ... are the biggest losers'
'Winners' and 'Losers'? You're starting to take on the adversarial tone of someone covering the heated US presidential election.
Or is this the MSE way of thinking 'the only sure-fire way to make people understand is to dumb everything down to the playground level'?
Also, once again non-news. And coming across as a bit of glory-hunting, that wouldn't have been reported if you'd got it wrong.0 -
I think MSE should stop using words like 'winners' and 'losers'. And also stop using terms such as 'cheap fixes'. This plays into the hands of the energy companies.
The truth is EVERYONE who fixed and is a regular switcher, is probably paying a lot more for their energy than they did last year.0 -

Agree 100% with all this. Not the usual MSE language at all. Very disappointing.0 -
Don't forget the cashback.
Missed the MSE/Moneysupermarket ~£70 cashback because my E.On SaveOnline 9 finished in September, but got ~£40 Quidco cashback.
Being a high user, plus cashback, I might be £300+ better off in the current fixed deal. Smug, smug, smug0 -
Nothing like patting yourself on the back via your own editorial team is there..Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

If you fix, you also pay a higher rate for longer so you cant always say its a winnerDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Some energy companies have only just put their prices up so saying "will have saved serious cash" is a bit premature. Hardly anyone has saved anything at all yet. Give it 12 months and then do your gloating if you must but everyone is paying more than they were.0

I suspect historically the majority of fixed/capped tariffs have worked to the customers's advantage - not difficult to understand when energy prices have relentlessly risen.
Initially there were no 'premiums' on fixed/capped tariffs, but latterly some companies did introduce premiums and it is possible some might have showed a loss at the end of the fixed term.0 -
We all know who the main 'winners' are here.
Saving your few pounds a year makes you even more of a loser. Stop signing away your choices and feeding their anti-competitive, private profiteering racket, and you'll start to be one of the real 'winners'.
Let them pay for 'our' green initiatives out of their already obscene profits, not from increasing our already extortionate bills.0 -
There are no Winners
Only short term savers who are going to get a big financial shock when the current Fixed Tariffs expire in 20140
