Hi,
My wife uses Skype on her iPhone over the internet to call her parents in China.
This has been great for several years, but not so good in the last 6 months where my wife can barely hear the other person in China.
She's looking for alternatives at the moment.0 -
How does she know it is a Skype issue, and not limited BB connectivity or even poor WiFi?
There are too many variables to point the finger. Having been a user since 2008, and now use this as my main point of contact (using a Skype In number, and inclusive annual UK calls (24x7), it has never let me down - and the savings over normal land line rentals and call charges are well worth having.0 -
Used Skype from my netbook via the free wifi in our hotel room in Singapore to call family in the UK (who, I think, were using an iPhone) on Christmas Day.
Had slight problems with the delay (well, it is 7,000 miles or so) and sound (but not picture) interference but, for a free video call, it has to score a 9/10 for value and about 6½/10 for quality.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
My OH regularly uses Skype to video with and chat to a friend in Perth, Australia and a daughter in Cyprus without any problems (though she is back in the UK now), on very odd occasions it may break up but a reconnect will usually cure any faults.0
