Freesat box requires ethernet connection?

Just had a freesat box which requires an ethernet connection. I already have an ethernet connection on the tv (wired connection) there are no more ports available on the router and if there were it would be a job to run a new line to the freesat box.
I was told that I could use an ethernet switch to create more ports, if so is it just a matter of removing the tv ethernet lead, connect the switch box in (behind the tv) and then connect one port to the tv and one to the freesat box?

its just that simple, unplug the Ethernet cable from the tv and plug it in to a Ethernet switch that as say 5 ports http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Unmanaged-Desktop-TL-SF1005D-Plastic/dp/B000FNFSPY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355920193&sr=8-1
and a cable to each one tv and freesat box,do not forget to plug them in to the mains socket too for power
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

Your Freesat box does not REQUIRE the net connection. It's only needed for the on demand viewing like iPlayer etc. It sounds like you have some of that functionality built into your TV. I'd suggest trying the features out on your box and on your TV, and leave whatever platform you're happier with plugged in.

Alas Al, life sometimes isn't that kind. We use our Sky+ box for catch-up (the TV only has iPlayer) but use the Blinkbox app on the TV (the Sky+ box doesn't have one).

However, as an ethernet switch costs around £7 delivered from Amazon, it isn't a major issue.
