Always always keep a copy of the completed forms, either photocopied if done by hand, print off a version or save a copy if completed electronically, then when renewal comes around, you have a record of what you put last time.
OP: the forms for any benefits will always be long, and often tricky to complete as they need to be able to cover everyone's circumstances.
I can sympathise with your grandparents, however if the DWP then started per-warning people that they would have to complete new forms & why etc- it would just add additional costs to them, which they will try to claw back by making the benefits harder to get in the first place.
I'm dreading when dla changes over to pip & when universal credit comes in, that's when everything will go crazy,:eek:
